These vehicles with the MTX transmissions were originally equipped with an aluminum bearing retainer. The retainer is prone to severe wear, causing binding and misalignment. A redesigned release bearing and a stamped steel sleeve is available to renew the sliding surface of the bearing retainer (see diagram).
These parts are available by adding a “S” to the kit part number (i.e. 07-069S) or by ordering separately as N8098SA (bearing) and CRP115 (sleeve). This fix eliminates the need to replace the entire front transmission housing. The new release bearing has a larger inside diameter to accommodate the larger outside diameter of the repair sleeve. The replacement bearing and repair sleeve should be used only as a set.
